Mathikithi Trail – Kruger National Park

Walking the Mathikithi trail in the Kruger National Park.

Walking the Mathikithi trail in the Kruger National Park.

Starting at Satara rest camp in the Kruger National Park with just 8 guests on the trail you will be out in the wilderness with your guides for 2 days and 3 nights.

Mathikithi is a tented camp with four tents furnished with two single beds that sleep two people each. Each tent has a canvas wardrobe and luggage rack. All linen and towels are provided. The camp is situated 500m west of Mathikithi sandstone hill along the banks of N’wanetsi stream. It is rustic and spartan.

The area is characterized by the high rocky outcrops with spectacular views for sun downers. This secluded rocky outcrop excludes trailists from the outside world as they can enjoy sun downers without interaction with other guests.

Like all the trails and camps your ablutions are communal with flush toilets and gas geyser showers to wash off the dust and sweat of a hot African day.

Meals are prepared for you over an open fire or gas stove in natural, rustic surroundings while you sit back and enjoy the scenery.

You will need comfortable clothing in neutral colours, comfortable footwear, a camera, binoculars, sunscreen, hat and malaria medication.
