Description
Amalinda Lodge
Matobo Hills National Park
Located in a private concession within Matobo Hills National Park, Amalinda Lodge has a stunning location set amongst the ancient granite boulders. The lodge is “owner run” ensuring very personalized service in a remarkable setting that is steeped in history. Here you will have the opportunity to track Rhino on foot.
Guests are welcomed to the lodge at the foot of the hill and arrive to find a main guest area that is nestled into the granite boulders. Three walls of this area are made up of rock but it has a surprisingly warm atmosphere with comfortable couches and a bar. There is a small library area that has fantastic views over the surrounding landscapes.
Probably the most remarkable feature is the swimming pool which has been built into a natural depression of the rocks and is a great place to relax during the heat of the day. Many of the meals here are served outdoors.
Chalets
Amalinda Lodge has nine thatched chalets of which three are suites. Each one is completely unique in that the space has been dictated by the rocks and are very spacious and comfortable. One of the chalets even has an ancient San bushman painting on one of the rocks in the room.
The en-suite bathrooms are also all different, some have showers, others have a bath and one has a day bed that is accessed by a small suspension bridge.
Most of the rooms have a small private balcony from which to enjoy the view.
