Description
Apoka Safari Lodge
Kidepo Valley
Apoka Safari Lodge is the vision you get when you close your eyes and think of Africa, the landscape you imagine. Jagged hills, gold grass swaying in a gentle breeze. Plains dotted with wildlife, soft glowing light, this is what you see then you are imagining Kidepo. This is Uganda’s most remote park and little visited so well worth the effort of visiting. Vast plains are often interrupted with rocky kopjes and at night the sky is so big it feels like you’re being swallowed. Under the canopy of the Milky Way the stars are incredibly bright.
There is plenty of wildlife in Kidepo from large predators to elephant giraffe and zebra. It is the only park in Uganda where zebra and giraffe are found together. The park is home to some of the largest herds of buffalo. Much of this wildlife can be seen from the veranda of your suite or the outdoor bath tub. Game drives are conducted in open top Land Cruisers ensuring really close encounters.
Rooms at Apoka were built with absolute comfort for the guests foremost in mind. Ten rooms surround a rock strewn outcrop that provide panoramic views out onto the savanna. With so much open space there are many places to relax and drink in the location. Large beds with luxurious finishes ensure a really good sleep. mosquito nets hang over each bed and hand-woven carpets grace the floors. While you may be isolated in Kidepo the, the lodge is very comfortable and welcoming.
Enjoy a cultural visit to the village at Karamojong and discover the traditions of this tribe. Sundowners are the best from the high rocks as the sun sinks and paints the sky.
