Description
&Beyond Nxabega
Okavango Delta
&Beyond Nxabega is located in a pristine, private, 17 300 acre concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The camp has been constructed under a canopy of African Ebony trees’ and looks out over the expansive lagoons of the Okavango. Chief’s Island is the most secluded location and boasts healthy Rhino populations.
Accommodation
With just eight chalets and one family unit the camp is an ideal location from which to explore the wonders of this World Heritage Site. Each chalet is connected to the main area with sandy pathways and their decor is of the classic safari experience. The tents are raised on wooden platforms that provide stunning views over the channels from a small deck in front of each tent.
In place of the traditional tent flaps proper doors open into spacious rooms replete with side tables and reading lamps. A small mini bar in each room has local beers, water and soft drinks. En suite bathrooms are nearly completely open with a shower that cascades onto a wooden deck. A zipped door leads to the outside shower surrounded by a thatched screen for privacy.
Safari Activities
Morning and afternoon game drives explore this secluded area of Chiefs Island in comfortable vehicles with the afternoon drive continuing into a night drive. Sunset drinks stops are chosen to ensure good views as the sun sets below the horizon.
Both the mokoro and boating excursions are seasonal and dependent on water levels. Game sightings on Chief’s Island never disappoint with Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Hippo and hundreds of colorful birds and frogs. Rhino have been relocated here in the recent past so keep your eyes peeled.
