Botswana Mobile

Moremi and Khwai

Mobile safaris offer a unique approach allowing a truly immersive experience in the beauty of the bush. Enjoy a mokoro ride deep into the lush reed filled waterways of the Okavango Delta. Day and night drives in open safari vehicles, luxurious accommodation and open air hot showers.

Mobile safaris focus on simplicity, nature and to offer a safari experience on the move with fully serviced mobile camps. Safaris are designed to achieve a state of harmony, and a celebration of balance and abundance. All the campsites have been carefully selected to offer the most immersive experiences each area has to offer.

Wake up to the sounds of the African bush before setting out on your game drive for the day. Drinks food and lunch are all “on the hoof” and will be in a different location every day. While your tent may look the same when you get to it in the evening, its location is completely different.

The Moremi Game Reserve and Khwai Conservancy in Botswana have some of the wildest and game rich areas in all of Botswana. Abundant herds of Elephant, Lion, Hippo, Buffalo and even relaxed Leopard. Camps have no fences, dine under the stars and go to be knowing the animals will wander past at their leisure while you sleep.

Enjoy fantastic birding opportunities, mokoro rides through the papyrus lined channels of the Delta and exciting game drives. Guest numbers are small and focus on personalized service and a truly remarkable experience. A mobile safari through these areas will produce memories you will not forget for a very long time.

Moremi Game Reserve and Khwai Conservancy

7 Days

This week long adventure starts at Maun airport in Botswana, a luxury safari vehicle will then drive you to the campsite where you’ll receive a welcome drink and a briefing on daily activities and safety measures. Your glamping accommodation is a luxurious tent with a king size bed, and each tent has bathroom en suite.

You’ll have time to unpack your clothes and then head out for your first game drive with an expert guide, where you could experience some of the magic of the bush and see elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, lion, leopards and even the elusive wild dogs.

Rhino were extinct in the Okavango, but both black and white rhino have been reintroduced in the reserve, although sightings are still rare. All the other Big Five are easily spotted – even the hardest to find, the leopard – are quite relaxed here. Wild dog sightings (a once in a lifetime experience) are some of the best in Africa.

For those who enjoy birding, there are some 500 different woodlands and water birds. Moremi offers very good bird watching year-round, but the best time is during the wet months, from November to April, when summer migrants make the reserve their temporary home. Wildlife viewing is better during the dry months, from May to October, when the brush has died down and the animals are easier to view.

After this, you’ll travel by road from Moremi to the Khwai Conservancy to continue experiencing the wonders of the African bush – the stars, the silence, and the sunsets.  Coffee and meals will be served en route to Khwai during the day.

Here we continue with the safari, but will also take you on a Mokoro excursion and a night drive in the brisk evening air to experience the activities of the nocturnal animals.

The Okavango River, also called Kubango River, fourth longest river system in southern Africa, running south-eastward for 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from central Angola, where it is known as the Kubango, to the Kalahari desert in northern Botswana, where the river terminates in an immense inland delta known as the Okavango Swamp. The river—formerly sometimes called the Okavango—takes its name from the Kavango people of northern Namibia.
