Starting your bush and beach safari in Arusha at Arumeru Lodge is a great location to set the tone for the next few days. Relax in comfortable surroundings and watch the little dikdik as they feed and wander the grounds. The following morning you are going to plunge into the wild African bush and spend three nights at Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire National Park.
Morning and afternoon game drives, walking safaris and endless views over the bush from the lodge this is just the beginning of your safari in Africa and the excellent game viewing you will enjoy. Beautifully appointed rooms with expanses of bush surrounding your tent each sunrise will take your breath away.
Winging your way to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and The Highlands lodge will open up the plains, mountains and volcanoes of this incredible geological feature. The caldera is one of the largest on the planet and home to year round game viewing like no other place. Black Rhino, huge Lions and their always present foes, the Hyena. Interactions between these apex predators is always fascinating but sometimes brutal int heir quest for survival.
From action packed game drives fly to the island paradise of Zanzibar and relax in a stunning chalet overlooking the Indian Ocean. Diving, kayaking, snorkeling or simply reading in your hammock. Fly In
Fly in to Kilimanjaro International Airport with KLM, Emirates, Qatar,Ethiopian and Kenya Airways.
You will be met on arrival by your safari driver for the short drive to your first accommodation at Arumeru River Lodge.

Full Itinerary
Day 1 – Arumeru River Lodge
On arriving at Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met by your safari representative who will drive you to Arumeru River Lodge just outside of Arusha. This is the ideal location from which to start your safari in Africa.
Freshen up and unwind in the lush gardens and begin your game viewing immediately! The gardens have several resident “dikdiks” – the smallest antelope in all of Africa and quite tame too.
Enjoy a delicious dinner and get an early night – your safari kicks off in the morning.
Day 2 & 3 – Oliver’s Camp
After breakfast you will be collected by your driver for a short drive to Arusha Airport and your flight to Kuro Airstrip in Tarangire National Park. You will be met at the airstrip by a guide and have a short game drive to Oliver’s.
Settle in to your room before meeting for afternoon tea and heading out on your first afternoon game drive in Tarangire. Returning to camp there will be time to have a drink fire side before enjoying a delicious dinner in the African bush.
Oliver’s is located in an area of dense animal populations on the edge of the Silale Swamps which attract all sorts of predators and prey alike. The camp overlooks the floodplain of the Munyonyo Pools and has magnificent views of the surrounding bush.
With only ten intimate and beautifully stylish tents the staff of professional hosts will cater to your every need.
Spend your mornings on walking safaris for 3-4 hours and return to camp for a well deserved and delicious breakfast. Afternoons can be spent relaxing in camp before your afternoon activity.
Day 4 & 5 – The Highlands
After breakfast you will depart the lodge bound for Kuro airstrip and your light aircraft to Manyara airstrip close to Lake Manyara. You will be met on arrival and enjoy a game drive to the Highlands. En route you will stop in the shade of a tree and enjoy the lunch that has been packed for you by Oliver’s Camp.
Settle in and relax in this awe inspiring location and views from your room over the Ngorongoro Conservation area. In the evening you can enjoy a drink at the bar in the main area before a delicious three course dinner.
The Highlands is set on the edge of the mountain forest hugging the Olmoti Crater and has eight luxuriously appointed suites. King size beds, bay windows and wood burning stoves for the evenings. The location of the Highlands offers an excellent base from which to discover this unique area. Walk to the summit of the Olmoti Crater directly from the lodge, visit the local Masai communities and enjoy daily game drives home to Leopard, Buffalo and Elephant.
The Crater conservation area opens at 06h00 and its always best to get there early to experience the magic of the rising sun on this unbroken caldera. Descending to the crater floor with your guide you will be astounded at the multitude and abundance of wildlife including Black Rhino, Wildebeest, Hyena, Jackals and Elephant. Lions in this area are much larger due to the abundance of prey and prides are also numerous.
Day 6, 7 & 8 – Ubuntu Camp
After an early breakfast you will depart The Highlands with your guide and game drive to Manyara airstrip for your flight to the Southern Serengeti and Kusini airstrip. On arrival you will be met by your guide, you may either enjoy a short game drive or go directly to Ubuntu Migration Camp. Depending on the season of your travel you will be in the South, West or North as this camp moves with the migrating herds.
The camp has just eight tents and consistently offers spectacular game viewing opportunities. Relax in camp for the afternoon and soak up the endless sceneries from the private deck of your safari tent.
There are a number of options on how you can structure your days activities here. One is to break camp early and enjoy a picnic breakfast in the bush returning to camp in time for lunch, another is to have breakfast in camp and have a picnic lunch in the bush returning to camp in the early afternoon. Despite the necessity to share vehicles with your fellow guests the camp will do its best to suit your wishes.
Day 9, 10 & 11 – Matewe Lodge
This morning you will have breakfast and depart camp for the airstrip. Your flight today will take you to the island paradise of Zanzibar. On arrival you will be met by a safari representative who will drive you to Matemwe Lodge in the North east of the island.
Matemwe is perched on a coral outcrop overlooking a sandy beach that is gently lapped by the Indian Ocean. Adjacent to the lodge the coral reefs of Mnemba Atoll offer superb diving and snorkelling. Fresh seafood, cocktails and relaxing massages are just some of the sublime activities that you can enjoy here.
Just 12 beach chalets all overlook the Indian Ocean and have their own private decks replete with hammocks and sofas. Spend three nights at Matemwe Lodge soaking up the sun and relaxing in your slice of paradise.
Day 12 – Departure
After breakfast you will depart the lodge for Zanzibar airport and your flight Dar es Salaam airport. Here you will connect with your onward flight arrangements.
