Chongwe River Camp

Lower Zambezi National Park

Chongwe River Camp lies at the confluence of the great Zambezi River and one of her tributaries, the Chongwe River. The camp is within the Game Management Area overlooking the un-fenced National Park so it’s still an excellent area for game viewing with Elephant regularly passing through camp.

Situated on the Western Bank of the Chongwe River the lodge possibly has the most beautiful setting of all the lodges or camps in Zambia. Nestled under a small forest of Winterthorn trees’ the camp is well shaded and the sweet orange pods that fall are an irresistible attraction for hungry Elephants.

The main guest area of the camp has a vast canvas roof hanging from the trees’ beneath which is the bar, a comfortable lounge, small library and charging station for camera batteries. The outdoor dining area and campfire is slightly separated from the swimming pool.

The Albida Suite lies at the Southern edge of the main camp and is made up of two octagonal tents, each with its own en-suite bathroom. A lovely lounge area lies between the tents. This suite comes with private activities.
