Description
Deka Camp
Hwange National Park
Open 1 May to 15 November
Probably one of the very best kept secrets of Hwange National Park, Deka Camp is pure, un-spoilt wilderness in a remote and isolated location. Nestled in some low foothills the privacy of the concession is the highlight and also means that night game drives are possible.
The camp is newly constructed in stone and thatch with a wide central wooden deck where guests can relax and cool off in the swimming pool. The main guest lounge area is completely open and a wonderful place to relax during the heat of the day. We loved the simple, earthy colors here.
Views from the main guest area and the guest rooms are simply astounding! The vista stretches all the way to the horizon. On a 4 hour game drive we covered nearly 70 kilometers and never saw a single other vehicle, a real treat. What we did see was an incredible array of wildlife, Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Hyena and Serval.
Chalets
Deka has only 8 thatch covered chalets that are carefully concealed in the surrounding vegetation. The chalets are not large but big enough for comfort with a small deck at the front of each with comfortable chairs to relax with a good book.
The en-suite bathrooms have been beautifully constructed with natural stone and copper piping. There is a wardrobe at the back of the bed that has ample space for bags and clothing.
Children over 6 years are welcome at Deka.

Also look at Deteema Springs and combine this with Somalisa Acacia, Ngoma Safari Lodge or Bumi Hills overlooking Lake Kariba.
