Description
Desert Quiver Camp
Sossusvlei
Desert Quiver Camp is perfectly located close to the main road leading to the Sossusvlei Dunes just five kilometres away. The lodge is perfectly situated to afford stunning views of the surrounding mountains and dunes that are typical of this area. An arid and almost barren landscape that delivers incredible sunsets each evening.
Twenty four beautifully designed en-suite self-catering chalets grace the landscape, each with private parking available. The twin-bedded suites have air-conditioning, an en-suite bathroom and a spacious bedroom with a fold-out sleeper couch where two small children (under 12) can be accommodated free of charge if shared with two paying adults.
Each unit is also equipped with a veranda, barbecue facility, wooden bench and kitchenette, which feature a two plate stove, under counter fridge and wash up area. Desert Quiver Camp can be the best place for your family holiday on a self catering basis or with meals included.
The lodge has a stunning swimming pool and grass lawn for the hotter parts of the day and where children can safely play. WiFi is available at the main lodge but due to the location is not always good. A bar area is also located at the main area. The Sossusvlei Main Camp has fuel and a small shop.
A small waterhole is flood lit at night and Springbok and Oryx are regular visitors to one of the only water sources in the area. Star gazing at night can be especially interesting as the lack of light pollution make the skies and stars stand out dramatically. For visitors from Europe this is one of the most unique attractions of the area.
The Sossusvlei Dunes entrance is not far away but the drive to the dunes themselves is at least a 40 minute drive after park fees have been paid at the main reception area. Sesriem (Six Thongs) is closer and a beautiful walk down into this canyon is very rewarding.
