Description
Dinaka Desert Camp
Central Kalahari Game Reserve
At Dinaka Desert Camp guests reside in seven spacious twin and double-bedded tents. Each has a wide deck with en-suite bathroom and an indoor/outdoor shower. Families are accommodated in a two-bed roomed tent, sharing a spacious en-suite bathroom. Each tent is well spaced and raised offering perfect views over the permanent water hole. Connected by wooden walkways all areas of camp are accessible by wheelchair.
Annual rains transform the desert into a lush blossoming of Kalahari vegetation. The Sleep Out Deck gives guests a panoramic view and the opportunity to spend the night under a magnificent African night sky. Due to there being so little ambient light here, the stars are simply indescribable.
Situated alongside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the focus of activities is exploring the Kalahari. Experience wildlife ranging from giraffe to the antelope, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives with afternoon drives continuing into the evening. Birding is spectacular as Dinaka Desert Camp hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike and a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.
Dinaka means “horns”. The lodge offers guided walks in addition to day and night game drives. Year-round water holes ensure good photo opportunities from vehicles, on foot or from the subterranean hides. This is the perfect contrast to a stay in the Okavango Delta.
