Built on the banks of the Ewasi Nyiro River, Elephant Bedroom Camp sits under a grove of Acacia trees’ and Doum Palms giving the atmosphere one of sublime relaxation. It’s not uncommon to have Elephants and other game come down to the river drink.

The main guest area is a beautiful deck raised off the ground with a mix of locally crafted and European inspired furniture. The dining area is made up of individual tables for all meals and also has views over the river. There is a comfortable lounge area with umbrellas and is the only place for guests to receive Wi-Fi.

Activities at the camp center around morning and afternoon game drives with very knowledgeable guides and game sightings are good. Elephant, Lion and even a pack of Wild Dogs during one of our drives. The area is quite remote and ensures very private game viewing experiences.

Tented Suites

Elephant Bedroom Camp has just 14 suites that are spacious with some luxury but also quite rustic making them all feel very welcoming. Twelve of the tents are standard with 8 having twin double beds and 4 a single king sized bed. All the tents can have an extra third bed added on request.

There are also two deluxe rooms built as a twin and double respectively. All the tents have a small private plunge pool as it can get hot here and Elephant are often seen in camp and will happily drink from your pool too!

The bathrooms are all at the rear of the tents with stone flooring and canvas walls. These are spacious with twin basins and a hot water boiler. Toiletries are also provided.

How to get there

Fly In

Fly in to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with Egypt Air, Swiss Air, Lufthansa, KLM, Turkish Airlines, Emirates or Qatar Airways.

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by your safari representative who will drive you to Wilson Airport and assist you onto a light aircraft for your flight to Kalama airstrip.

Your guide will meet you at the airstrip for the 60 minute game drive to camp.
