Full Itinerary

9 May – Springbok Inn

This morning we will depart Hermanus at 08H00 bound for the small border town of Springbok. Lunch will be in one of the small towns en route and we will be making frequent rest stops as well. Our destination is Springbok Inn located on the outskirts of Springbok. The location has been chosen for its beauty and tranquil setting. We will enjoy dinner and breakfast here for the night.

10 and 11 May – Agama River Camp

We will depart Springbok Inn after breakfast. As we have a long drive today and with so much to see en route an early departure is to ensure we have enough time to enjoy the landscape, stop frequently for photographs and so that we arrive at our destination in time to enjoy it and have dinner.

We will arrive at Noordoewer and complete the border formalities for crossing into Namibia. You will need to have your passport and COVID test results at hand.

We will be driving through the Ai Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park heading for Rosh Pinah before encountering the long road to Aus. From here we are heading for Helmeringhausen. These landscapes are incredible and with the bus air-conditioned you will be able to enjoy the scenery in style.

Our destination is Agama River Camp located just North of Sossusvlei in a stark yet beautiful area. We will spend 2 nights here with visits to the famous dunes – and we can climb one if you like – as well as to Sesriem Canyon.  Please note that entry fees’ into Sossusvlei are for your own account.

From Agama River Camp we will spend one full day exploring the dunes at Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon. Your entry fee into the park is included in your tour cost.

On entering the park you will proceed all the way to parking lot where ablutions are available and there is the opportunity to take a 4X4 into the dunes. On your return to the main gate there will be time for lunch (own account) after which you will drive to the top of Sesriem Canyon. Here your guide will lead you down into the canyon for a short walk. Some areas of the descent can be quite steep.

You will return to Agama River Camp in the late afternoon to relax before dinner.

12 and 13 May – Beach Lodge Swakopmund

This morning will be a very relaxed start to the day. We have a short distance of only 350 kilometers to drive to the small coastal town of Swakopmund. After several days of desert, it’s time to take in the seaside and enjoy the sun and surf.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Agama River Camp before we load the luggage trailer and head North for the sea and sand. Our journey today will take us through the Naukluft Mountain Zebra National Park before we cross the Tropic of Capricorn – here we will have to stop for a photograph!

After the Tropic we travel over the Tumas Plain – once again this landscape is absolutely incredible in its diversity and ever-changing scenery. We will pass through Walvis Bay before arriving in Swakopmund in the early afternoon. Here we will stop for a late lunch.

This evening is at your leisure. Lunch and dinner are for your own account both nights we are here and there are many small restaurants with excellent cuisine within walking distance of our accommodation.

14, 15 and 16 May – Etosha Safari Lodge

This morning we will depart Swakopmund at 09h00 and once again enter the vastness of Namibia. Our journey today is over 500 kilometers and we will stop for lunch in Otjiwarongo or Outjo.

Our destination today is Etosha Safari Lodge where we will spend the next three nights.

Spend the afternoon relaxing in your accommodation before meeting the rest of the group for dinner when we will discuss the plans for the following day.

There will be both morning and afternoon game drives in your luxury air-conditioned bus. Your guide will arrange a suitable departure time for the morning game drives. The afternoon drives will be dependent on the weather and heat. All game drives will be about 3 hours in duration.

Please note that these game drives are not an additional cost to you, nor is the entry fee into Etosha National Park.

As you will see from the website this is a serene location where you will have the opportunity to relax, swim, read your book and enjoy the beauty of the area. Our purpose here is game viewing and as the lodge is a mere 30-minute drive to the park gates we are ideally placed to make the absolute most of our time here.

17, 18 and 19 May – Emanya Lodge – Von Lindquist Gate

After a very relaxed start to the day we will depart Etosha Safari Lodge and game drive through the park to Halali where we will stop for some lunch and perhaps buy some souvenirs. (Lunch for your own account.)

Our destination for the evening is Emanya Lodge. This is outside the Von Lindquist Gate approximately a half hour drive and set in the most beautiful location.

Game drives will be planned according to the weather and group wishes. Both morning and afternoon game drives will be available.

20 May – Windhoek Gardens

This morning we will depart Emanya Lodge after breakfast. We are heading South today with Windhoek as our destination. We will pass through the small and quaint town of Tsumeb before we continue through Otavi and Okaputo. As we only have 550 kilometers to drive today there will be time to have a peaceful lunch at Otjiwarongo.

Our destination for the night is a small hotel called Windhoek Gardens.

Dinner this evening is for your own account and will be at the famous Joe’s Beerhouse.

21 May – Jakkalswater Springbok

This morning we will depart Windhoek directly after breakfast at 08h00. This early departure is necessary as we have nearly 1000 kilometers to drive as well as crossing an international border.

We will order our lunch from the restaurant for the following days journey.

Once we have crossed the border at Noordoewer we will drive to Jakkalswater.

https://www.jakkalswater.co.za/

This is a completely green, nature orientated guest farm North of Springbok and close to the small town of Nababeep. It is located in the foothills of the Kamiesberge and is a great location to relax. We will enjoy dinner here as a group for the last time.

22 May – Hermanus

This morning after breakfast we will depart Jakkalswater bound for home. Departing at 09h00 we will stop en route for lunch and arrive back in Hermanus in the late afternoon.
