Family Safari – 10 days

Your safari starts in Maun, Botswana and ends in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Arriving in Maun you will be assisted onto a light aircraft for your flight to the Linyanti Swamps. Flying over these pristine waterways will amaze the children. It’s a great way for them to see the perspective of it’s size. The Linyanti Swamps are on the border with Namibia and views stretch to the horizon.

Morning and evening game drives as well as walking safaris can be done in this private concession. If the children are old enough, they can join you. Expert guides will match your plans to their ages and ensure they are constantly amazed and entertained. Suites are luxurious, spacious and designed for absolute comfort.

Linyanti Ebony sits under a huge Ebony tree, the swimming a short walk from the main deck and relaxation spots. The area is rich in diversity of mammals and vegetation. Open plains favour the Lions hunting while dense thickets hide elusive Leopard. Herds of Elephant are common as they browse through the bush.

Three days at Thorntree River Lodge will lend an air of relaxation. Let your children discover the rainforests and majesty of Victoria Falls before you set off for more big game sightings in Hwange National Park. Somalisa Camp is within her own concession. Elephant herds are a daily and constant parade through the camp. Let the children sit at the pools edge as the Elephants come to drink. Never again will you get so close! The sightings from the pool are the absolute best.

From Somalisa you will be perched on a hillside at Bumi Hills Safari Lodge overlooking Lake Kariba. The most gorgeous deck from which to watch the sunset or a candle lit dinner under a billion stars. Pamper yourself with a sublime day at the spa while your expert guide looks after your children.

Fly in

Fly in to Maun in Botswana from a variety of different locations. Airlines that fly to Maun include South African Airways and SA Airlink.

On arrival in Maun you will be met by your safari representative and assisted onto a light aircraft for your flight to the Linyanti.

Day 1 to 4 – Linyanti Ebony

Built on raised decking overlooking the Linyanti marsh, Linyanti Ebony Camp offers stunning views of the Linyanti River and many exhilarating ways to explore the beauty of the area. From game drives to a helicopter flight of the river, this family-focused safari camp is the perfect start to your African adventure.

Day 4 to 6 – Thorntree River Lodge

Heading over to Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls, Thorntree River Lodge awaits. There is something on offer here for the whole family, whether it is an exciting morning out rhino trekking or an afternoon spent fishing on the Zambezi River, its bound to be a family holiday like no other.

Day 6 to 9 – Somalisa Acacia

The warm heart of Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park is home to Somalisa Acacia where you’ll continue your epic family safari adventure. The camp offers family-focused tents with interconnecting walkways and connecting bedrooms, creating an ‘under-one-roof feeling’ and comfort for the whole family.

Day 9 to 11 – Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

From its position on a range of remote hills, Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is blessed with breath-taking panoramic views over the great inland sea of Lake Kariba. The lodge offers families a multitude of ways to explore Lake Kariba and its surrounds including fishing, game drives and Cub Club activities.11
