At Gunn’s Camp, set along the papyrus-clad banks of the Okavango Delta, one becomes part of the bustling river life. Explore the wilderness with guided bush walks, or sit back and absorb the scenery from a traditional ‘mokoro’. A great way to explore the crystal clear channels is by motor-boat to watch the sun set whilst drifting along a lagoon and sipping sundowners.
Morning, evening and night game drives will bring the bush alive with the myriad predators this area has to offer.
A guided walk into the Mopane woodlands and open plains of the Okavango will reveal the intricacies of the bush. And if you want a slower pace take a mokoro trip, it’s well worth an afternoon of leisure. On the mokoro the papyrus lined channels teem with the smaller insects and reed frogs that are a delight to see.
Set on raised platforms overlooking the delta plains, Gunn’s Camp consists of six, fully furnished, deluxe Meru tents with en-suite bathrooms featuring stand-alone baths and outside private showers. All tents have a lounge area and private veranda.
Tents are connected to the main camp via raised wooden walkways crossing the wetlands and magically lit by fairy-like lanterns. Guests can enjoy the elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma and the sparkling pool. The top deck boasts a large bar with magnificent views overlooking Chief’s Island. The dining area has stunning sunset views.
