Located on the tree lined banks of Impalila Island, Ichingo Chobe River Lodge provides the very best game viewing in one of the most breathtaking areas between Namibia and Botswana. There is an abundance of birds, wildlife and it is an ideal family safari lodge.

The main guest area includes a comfortable lounge area with sofas, a bar area and an extensive deck and swimming pool overlooking the river. Communal meals are typically held under the stars. Each of the tents has it’s own dedicated guide and boat so guests have complete flexibility with activities.

For ideal wildlife viewing the months of May through to October are the best for large herds of game on the river banks. From November to April is especially good for birdlife as populations explode during breeding. For the fishing enthusiasts there is always a good chance of catching Tiger fish.

A sociable fire is lit each evening for pre dinner drinks or a night cap after your meal.

Accommodation

There are just eight guest tents on the island ensuring that everyone gets the best attention and still enjoys the intimacy and isolation of the island. Each tents has it’s own small deck at the front with chairs and a large en-suite bathroom with shower. Laundry here is free.

All the rooms are air conditioned for the warmer months and keep rooms cool.

Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge and ages 4 – 12 receive a 50% discount while up to 3 years are complimentary but there are no babysitting services available. There is one Family tent which can sleep 2 adults and up to 4 children under 12 years.

How to get there

Fly In

Fly into Livingstone’s Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport with British Airways, South African Airways or Kenya Airways.

It is essential that you purchase a KAZA Visa to reduce your visa costs.

On your arrival in Livingstone you will be met by your safari assistant who will assist you with your transfer to the Kazungula Border post. Here you will exit Zambia into Kasane in Botswana where you will be met and assisted with your luggage.

You will then be transferred by motorized boat to the Namibian Immigration Office, where you’ll get your passport stamped. Please wear comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen as there is a short walk to the immigration office.
When arriving at the Kasane and Namibian Immigration Offices guests needs to fill in the required immigration forms to gain access and departure permission from the relevant authorities. This process can take between 45 to 60 minutes to complete and needs to be considered in terms of timing and pre-planning when coming to stay on one of the houseboats or at the lodge.
