Description
Jacana
Okavango Delta
Jacana enjoys spectacular year round game drives and water activities. Built on a small island in the Jao Flats concession the camp has excellent access to both land based mammals as well as excellent birding in the lush floodplains surrounding the camp.
Large herds of Red Lechwe can be found here along with their primary predators, Lions and Leopard. Sightings of both these apex predators are very good. Other herbivores include Elephant, Tsessebe, Hippo and occasionally Sitatunga. Sightings of Spotted Neck Otters are quite regular around camp.
Birding on this island camp is nothing short of spectacular with Wattled Cranes, Pels Fishing Owl, Slaty Egret, Rosy Throated Longclaw being just some of the species that guests see. For guests who wish to have a fantastic birding experience coupled with most of the Big 5, Jacana is a good choice to enjoy the best of both.
