Jao Camp
Okavango Delta
Located in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Jao Camp is surrounded by papyrus fringed islands, riverine forests and abundant wildlife experiences. Nestled in under Ebony, Mangosteen and Leadwood trees’ the camp stretches extensively along the banks. The nearby Hunda Island is an ideal location for extensive game drives and boats abundant wildlife and predators.
The camp has been designed with a combination of what seems like a Bali and African theme and may seem quite formal to begin, is actually very warm and welcoming. The staff here are excellent and service is very personalized. Guiding is also of a very high standard. Due to the plentiful water and reeds there are large herds of Lechwe, an antelope rarely seen as well as Giraffe, Buffalo and Hippo.
The main guest area is split into two levels with the dining area looking over a sunken lounge and fire area for pre dinner drinks or relaxing after a delicious meal. There is also a lounge, library and bar area. There are two separate and private swimming pools.
Accommodation
Jao has 9 luxury suites, all connected to the main area by raised wooden walkways. Built with both canvas and thatching they are both spacious and very comfortable. One of the suites has an adjoining room that is ideal for families. The deck provides a great place to relax with beautiful views.
There are four poster twin or double beds, comfortable couch and chairs as well as a small bar fridge with tea and coffee facilities. The en-suite bathrooms have dual vanity basins, indoor and outside showers with fantastic views and a free standing bath tub.
