Description

Kafunta River Lodge

South Luangwa

Kafunta River Lodge has been located and designed to present the epitome of a great safari lodge. Attention to detail and relaxed atmosphere has been matched with stunning tents and superb views. Highly qualified guides conduct exciting game drives and share their extensive knowledge of the bush and wildlife with you.

Each of the luxury private chalets, the main lounge & dining area overlooks the game rich flood plains. Beyond this is the mighty Luangwa River and one of the best game viewing areas of the South Luangwa National Park.

Eight safari chalets have been built on raised wooden platforms with thatched roofs. Decorated with African style and charm each is set apart and private from the others. There are two luxury suites which feature a private deck, upstairs viewing veranda and a luxurious bathroom.

Kafunta River Lodge has its own pontoon close to the lodge and this adventurous river crossing takes you into the more remote areas of the South Luangwa National Park giving access to extraordinarily good wildlife encounters. The lodge is a short game drive from the main gate giving access to the abundant game viewing of the Mfuwe sector.

Elephant, Buffalo, Giraffe and if you’re really fortunate encounters with Wild Dogs, Lion or Leopard.

Early mornings are the best time for a game drive or alternatively a walking safari can be arranged. During your afternoon game drive there is a stop for sun downers in the bush to fully experience the magnificent African sunsets. Once the sun has set game drives continue in the dark which allows you to spot nocturnal animals.
