Description

Kaingo Camp

South Luangwa National Park

Kaingo Camp is owned by the Shenton family who have been in the Luangwa Valley for many years now. Overlooking the Luangwa River the camp nestles under a small forest of Ebony trees’ that provide welcome shade. Derek and Jules Shenton are frequently in the camp to assist with the operations and guiding.

Kaingo offers guests three activities per day, an unusual amount but most welcome to ensure you get the most from this incredible safari destination. Game drives, both day and night, as well as walking safaris all led by a very experienced team of guides.

The Elephant Hide Star Bed is for the exclusive use of guests at Kaingo and has been built very close to an Elephant crossing point over the Luangwa River. The hide can be made use of during the day but it’s much more popular for the experience of a night out under the stars of Africa. This is a bucket list event that you HAVE to do while you’re there. The star bed is high up on a wooden platform providing safety and incredible views.

Chalets

Kaingo Camp has six chalets, five are standard and there is one family chalet, all have uninterrupted river views and their own private deck built over the river. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom with a shower, vanity basins and outside there is an outdoor bath. Each chalet’s small shaded deck closer to the river has comfortable chairs and is a great place to siesta or watch the action on the river.

The family chalet has been located a little  further away from the main guest area under some Natal mahogany trees. The large main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, both indoor and outside showers and bath. A door connects the main bedroom to the lounge and a children’s room.

With it’s own butler and the option of private dining and private vehicle access, it’s been designed to cater for either couples looking for a more exclusive experience, families or a group of friends.
