Description

Katavi Lodge

Katavi National Park

Closed 1 March to 31 May

Located in the middle of Katavi National Park lies Katavi Lodge with panoramic views over the plains of Katisunga. This is the perfect location for travelers looking for a remote and isolated bush experience. The lodge blends itself into the surrounding bush with mixtures of local materials and design.

The main guest area at Katavi lodge has two levels and is quite a large structure. The lounge area is a very warm and relaxing space with seating scattered around and views from nearly every vantage point. The main deck is huge and often the location for meals during the day or at night under the stars.

The twice daily game drives we experienced were fantastic with excellent sightings. Guides at the lodge are very well informed of the unique ecosystem they guide in and were very popular with their guests. The lodge also offers night drives at an additional cost and we can highly recommend doing one. The Leopard were very relaxed and we took some incredible photographs.

Safari Tents

Katavi Lodge has 8 safari styled tents including a family unit that is made up of two tents sharing the same elevated wooden deck. All the tents are covered with local thatch to keep them cooler and are very comfortable inside. Dark hardwoods and traditional designs come together in a simple manner.

The rooms are not cluttered and there is ample space for the bed and the deck at the front has a comfortable couch for a lazy midday nap.

The en-suite bathrooms have been very well equipped and are of a high standard with glass shower and twin basins.
