Description

Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp

Oloololo Escarpment

Kichwa Tembo has an excellent reputation as one of the most popular safari camps in Kenya. This camp does not compare for intimacy with some of the smaller camps. The combination of her location, swimming pool and service have ensured that Kichwa Tembo is a very good all round choice.

Situated in her own private conservancy to the North of the Masai Mara reserve allows for convenient access to the park. Being in the North of the park the camp is close to some important river crossing and migration routes. The location avoids the busy tourist areas of other parts.

Accommodation

The camp has 28 Classic Tents and 12 Luxury Tents, all with en suite bathrooms and private decks. Views from the deck area stretch over the grasslands and the nearby Sabaringo River. A very decent sized swimming pool is surrounded by trees’ and lawns with spectacular views.

The guest areas lie under a forested canopy and include a very spacious dining room and bar. Views from the guest area are expansive over the plains of the Mara and the Olololo Escarpment in the distance. The camp is an ideal location for families with the benefit of a swimming pool for between game drives.

The atmosphere is welcoming and the location means short drives to the reserve for the kids and the main wildlife areas. Children from 6 to 12 are allowed on game drives if well behaved. Where possible management will try to place families on their own vehicle.

There are three family suites in camp and some of the other tents can be adapted to triples.
