Description
Kuro Tarangire
Tarangire National Park
Closed 16 March to 31 May
Situated conveniently close to Kuro airstrip, Kuro Tarangire is deep within the park in an area that is seldom frequented by other safari goers. For a self drive from the main gate it is a 2 to 3 hour drive through beautiful scenery and excellent game viewing. We saw Elephant, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Lion and even a Bat Eared Fox.
The main guest area is a large open thatched structure with a lounge and dining area inside. The deck runs the entire length of this area and is a fantastic setting for lunch or dinners under the stars. One lunchtime we enjoyed with a herd of Elephant grazing on the plains right in front of us.
The bar and lounge are separated from the dining area by a small screen and the lounge has a small selection of books and board games for the children if needed. There is a toilet off to one side that has the most splendid views!
Accommodation
Kuro Tarangire has just 6 rooms all widely spaced from one another in amongst the woodlands. There is a family unit of two connected rooms that can sleep up to five guests. Each of the spacious rooms has a king sized bed or two twin beds, a couch and writing desk. There is a large deck at the front of each that is shaded from the sun.
En-suite bathrooms are separated by wood screens and house a vanity basin, inside and outdoor showers fed by bucket showers. There is a nice selection of toiletries provided too.
Safari activities include morning and afternoon game drives but the highlight is definitely the night drives (additional cost). Walking safaris can also be done in the mornings.
