Description
Lamai Serengeti
Serengeti National Park
Closed 16 March – 31 May
In the extreme north of Serengeti National Park lies Lamai Serengeti, perched high on a kopje the camp has breathtaking views over the Mara Valley and Lamai Wedge. During July and October the camps location is an ideal place from which to witness the dramatic migration river crossings.
The main guest area at Lamai Serengeti is a spacious affair that makes the absolute most of the views over the plains. The lounge area has plenty of comfortable seating and the dining area has individual tables around a roaring fire in the evenings. The bar and swimming pool are slightly lower and a great location for evening drinks around the firepit.
Lamai Private Camp is set slightly lower than Main Camp and though space is slightly limited this is a perfect choice for groups or families up to 10 people.
Game viewing activities at both camps include morning and afternoon game drives as well as walking safaris. Walking is best between August and October. Lamai Private has a private vehicle and guide for flexibility.
Accommodation
All of the 12 rooms are set amongst the boulders and while some are quite far from the main area the walk and views are exceptional. Room 5 is closest to the main lodge. The rooms have all been nestled amongst the rocks and are very private affording either sunrise or sunset views.
Each room is a lot more spacious inside than the exterior impression with a mosquito draped double bed and the front wall is a completely open window covered with mesh netting. The en-suite bathrooms have twin vanity basins, toilet and shower.
All the rooms have a private deck that wraps around with some chairs from which to enjoy the views.
