Leroo La Tau is situated on the Western banks of the Boteti River approximately 140 kilometers Southeast of Maun, the safari capital of Botswana. The Boteti River follows the Eastern border of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and is the main outflow of the Okavango Delta.

Leroo La Tau is built on cliffs overlooking the ever changing environment of the land and river system. The elevated position affords stunning views over the Makgadikgadi Pans. The river waters bring much needed sustenance to the wildlife of the area and the commanding position excellent sightings for visitors.

Accommodation

The lodge comprises just twelve luxurious thatched and glass-fronted suites with en-suite bathrooms. Each suite is elevated on a wooden platform minimizing environmental impact and giving beautiful views. With the suites facing East sunrises are spectacular over the vast expanses of the ancient salt pans.

The main lounge and dining area also has a wood and thatch décor and with it’s open fireplace is the perfect venue for cocktails before dinner. A swimming pool offers the opportunity to cool off during the hotter months. A game-viewing hide has been built into the banks of the river from which close up encounters of Elephant, Hippo and Buffalo are common.

The lodge offers guided game drives into the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park with experienced guides, the emphasis being on game viewing along the Boteti River banks. Water level dependent boat activities can also be provided. For guests wishing to learn more about the culture there are excursions to Khumaga Village and day trips to Nxai pan and Baines Baobabs – with a three night stay only.

How to Get There

Fly In

Fly in to Maun or Kasane from Johannesburg or Cape Town with SA Airlink, Air Botswana or South African Airways.

On your arrival in Maun you will be met by your safari representative who will assist you onto your light aircraft for the 30 minute flight to the Leroo La Tau airstrip. From Kasane it’s a 65 minute flight to the airstrip. Your guide will meet you at the airstrip for the 30 minute game drive to the camp.
