Description
Lion Camp
South Luangwa
Lion Camp is located in the far North of South Luangwa National Park approximately a three hour game drive from Mfuwe Airport. This isolation ensures guests see very few other game drive vehicles and game viewing either on foot or by vehicle is greatly enhanced.
The density of game in this area is high providing excellent interactions and photographic opportunities. The local Lion pride of the area is now well known and their roars at dusk can be heard for many miles. The lagoon in front of the camp is extremely popular with Elephant, Impala, Zebra, Warthog, Bushbuck and Kudu making “armchair game viewing” very good from the comfort of your private deck.
The main guest area at Lion Camp is a very spacious area with beautiful wooden decks, a fire area for sunset drinks and a very comfortable place from which to relax and survey your surroundings. A swimming pool for the warmer months and days has been built into the deck with sun loungers overlooking a grassy plain.
Suites
All the suites at Lion Camp have been built onto wooden platforms that are raised quite high off the ground and all are joined to the main guest area with walkways. These raised walkways allow the free movement of wildlife through the camp and it’s not uncommon to see Bushbuck or Impala wandering through camp.
Each suite has a high thatched roof supported by a wooden frame and canvas walls. Interiors are spacious with magnificent views over the plains and double doors that give a wonderful sensation of being outside while in the comfort of your room. A private deck with chairs is a sublime place to enjoy the passing scenery of wildlife and birds.
Rooms can be made up with double or twin beds and an extra bed can be provided if necessary. Walk in mosquito nets and a ceiling fan for warmer nights are provided. The en-suite bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a wood partition where you will find toilet, vanity basins and a shower area.
