Little Vumbura is an island paradise in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The Vumbura Concession is leased from the local community ensuring a greater awareness of the benefits of the Okavango to the local people. Water based activities are the main focus at Little Vumbura with mokoro excursions and boating exciting along the papyrus lined channels of the Okavango Delta.
The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango around Vumbura Plains are locally referred to as ‘melapo’ and offer good sightings of Elephant, Giraffe, Impala, Sable antelope, Kudu, Zebra, Common Waterbuck and Reedbuck. Predators include the African Wild Dogs, several resident prides of Lion, as well as Leopard, Cheetah and African Wildcat.
With just six beautiful tented rooms there is an air of stylish exclusivity at Little Vumbura. All the rooms look out over the grasses of the flood plains and a small star gazing deck is off to one side of the main area, close to the dining room. The camp can accommodate 12 guests and 2 children. The family tent has a large double bed while the second room has twin beds, each with en suite bathrooms.
Both scenic helicopter flights and hot air balloon rides are possible from the camp offering guests very unique perspectives of the Okavango. Hot air ballooning is possible for children 7 years and older and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult or parent. Morning and afternoon game drives as well as night drives and walking safaris are conducted at Little Vumbura. Motorized boats and mokoro excursions. Fishing is on a catch and release basis.
