Mara Plains Camp is a unique, seven tent camp located in the private 35,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy, just on the northern boundary of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This intimate camp is one of Kenya’s only two Relais & Chateaux properties. The other being it’s sister property ol Donyo Lodge. Both are blends of the finest in wildlife viewing with the absolute best of safari hospitality and guiding.
There are no other camps that offer the extensive traversing area of Mara Plains Camp. The camp has access to a total of 100,000 acres of private conservancy land. Safaris can also access the world-renowned Maasai Mara, home to the Great Migration. Each guest at Mara Plains contributes considerably to the success of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy’s flourishing ecosystem. Conservation fees paid safeguard this habitat, while supporting over 1,000 Maasai families. The partnership promises the survival of an astounding volume and diversity of wildlife.
The camp is nestled in the lush forest on the winding bends of the Ntiakitiak River. The camp does not stick out of the surrounding landscape, the design is of a peaceful refuge. It’s position provides her guests with sweeping views across the plains from within the riverine forest. It is captivating camp on first arrival.
Mara Plains Camp main area will surely leave you quite breathless. After walking across the bridge, Africa is revealed in magnificence. The horizon lies ahead, open but for a single acacia tree. It’s the Africa of your imagination. Flanking the main lounge is the library where a quiet afternoon passing the time feels idyllic.
All seven tents have deep canvas ceilings, authentic wood floors and reminders of East Africa’s rich safari history. The en-suite facilities include a deep copper bath. A wide wooden veranda finishes each beautifully crafted guest suite.
