Northern Explorer
Kafue National Park and the Busanga Plains.
Your safari starts and ends in Lusaka.
Northern Explorer takes in two stunning camps in the Busanga Plains of Kafue National Park…
Musekese Camp in the Northern part of Kafue National Park sits under a canopy of riverine vegetation. Overlooking a large floodplain, guests can sit back and observe the diverse and large congregations of wildlife. From the comfort of the chalet or whilst having a drink on the deck, herds of elephant gather to drink and wallow while hundreds of antelope use the water daily, always watchful for one of the resident lion prides in the area.
The camp itself comprises four traditionally thatched chalets, all complete with comfortable beds, luxury linens and locally sourced furnishings. Open air en-suite bathrooms with traditional wood warmed bucket showers and flushing toilets combine style with practicality for a comfortable stay.
The main lounge area at Musekese is under a cool, thatch roof, providing shade in the heat of the day where guests can relax with a book from the library or an ice cold drink. The large main area deck, which extends into the dambo provides excellent game viewing and bird-watching opportunities. The deck is often used as a stunning site for dinner under the stars
The main boma area for Ntemwa Busanga overlooks the vast and shimmering Busanga Plains. Wildebeest, Zebra, Puku and Buffalo are just some of the myriad wildlife that can be seen from the comfort of the deck. Lion prides are often seen resting on the plains during the day, watched carefully by the other animals and making for some fascinating interactions.
Morning and afternoon game drives are the main activities at the camp with night drives being a special and necessary adventure. Due to the distances involved and the diverse habitats of the area the night drives can be especially interesting and rewarding.
