ol Donyo Lodge is located on the Maasai-owned Mbirikani Group Ranch. The area comprises 275,000 acres of wilderness between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks and bordering Chyulu Hills National Park. This stunningly beautiful area is incredibly diverse, and often has spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
There is no other lodge in Africa that offers such diverse experiences in an exclusive location. This is one of Kenya’s only two Relais & Chateaux properties. The lodge is perched on a hillside with views of Africa’s classic savannahs below. Six pool suites plus one two-bedroom family unit offer contemporary and rustic accommodation. ol Donyo is a perfect location for families, honeymooners or multi-generational groups.
ol Donyo is unique for the wide variety of activities it offers, cultural visits, excellent wildlife viewing, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. ol Donyo Lodge is a place to feel Africa. Coupled with the lodge’s fine dining, massage, infinity pool, star beds and multiple lounges it is a place to relax and unwind. The semi-arid region offers a more diverse safari experience to that found in the Maasai Mara area.
None of the suites is exactly the same. Each has views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the waterhole as well as star beds atop each for sleeping under the night sky. All the suites have private plunge pools and two are connected to create a villa that is ideal for families or couples traveling together. Constructed of local thatch the suites blend with the environment despite their design.
Wildlife photography and local crafts punctuate the open-air layout of the main area. The dining area and nearby pool is where delicious meals are served. The main infinity pool, curio shop and office provide other diversions should exploring the area not be enough.
