Description

Pom Pom Camp

Okavango Delta

Pom Pom Camp is well known for it’s soul and appeal to the safari traditionalists. The camp is located on Pom Pom Island in a private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta.  With the Xudum river system flowing gently past the camp there is a constant influx of animals and bird life. The area lies on the western boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve and not only offers superb Okavango scenery but also consistent game viewing all year round.

With lots of beautiful clear channels so close to the camp, a bird heronry and plenty of open plains the game and bird life is extraordinary at Pom Pom. Morning and afternoon game drives, motor boats, fishing, mekoros and night drives are all possible on this vast private concession. Most of the Big Five can be found here barring Rhino but the area is very good for Lion, Leopard, Hippo, Buffalo and Wild Dogs. Water based activities are water level dependent.

Accommodation

Pom Pom Camp consists of 9 luxury tented suites. The tents overlook a typical Okavango lagoon with views stretching to the horizon miles away. Bring your binoculars! The camp is shaded by a grove of Ebony trees’.  The tents all have en suite shower and though there is no roof the bathrooms are enclosed for privacy offering a very unique bush adventure.

The main thatched building opens up to either side of you as you arrive. To your right is a cozy bar and to the left the main dining area. There is also a swimming pool for the hotter parts of the day. Views from the main guest area look out onto the lagoon and floodplains beyond that but closer to the main building is a fire area for pre-dinner drinks.
