Ruckomechi Camp has ten spacious and beautifully decorated en-suite tents, including two family rooms, that lie beneath the Ana trees, best-beloved of local elephant for their nutritious seeds. The camp’s central living space includes an inviting fire pit for pleasant evenings beneath the African night skies. Other unique features include a swimming pool which overlooks a broad sweep of river, an outdoor “bath with a view” in a secluded, scenic spot, and a romantic Star Bed by a busy waterhole.
Mana Pools National Park lies at the heart of the Zambezi Valley, a remote, beautiful place with spectacular views. The area offers large concentrations of Buffalo and Elephant, while predators such as Lion, Wild Dog, Leopard and Cheetah are often sighted. Greater Kudu, Burchell’s Zebra, Impala, Warthog and Common Waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains and the grunting of hippo can be heard all day. Bird life is superb, with numerous local specials like collared palm-thrush and racket-tailed roller.
Ruckomechi Camp is an upmarket property with a fantastic location on the banks of the Zambezi River. It offers one of the most luxurious experiences in the area and takes full advantage of its location. The camp offers a variety of water-based activities such as walking safaris and game drives. The camp’s private concession has superb game viewing.
Blending in with its surroundings, the main area at Ruckomechi is constructed from canvas and local materials. A large, open-sided canvas tent provides an airy lounge with plenty of comfortable, there is a small library and well-stocked bar. Extending from the tent is a large wooden platform where meals are enjoyed beneath the night skies.There is an infinity pool surrounded by sun loungers. Safari activities at Ruckomechi include boating, walking and driving.
