Description
Serian’s Serengeti South
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
A mobile tented camp that follows the Great Migration, Serian’s Serengeti South operates from December to May each year and is strategically located in the far South of the Serengeti. At this time of year the grasses are short, the plains are wide and endless and it is here that the Wildebeest come to calve.
Over a mere three weeks over two million Wildebeest will drop over 400 000 new calves into the world to begin an epic journey. The plains come to life and resonate with the sounds of grunting from the Wildebeest, braying from the Zebra and the calls of the ever present predators. At dusk Lions can be heard from every direction and as the night comes alive Hyena begin their raucous giggling as kills are made and consumed.
As the only tented camp in the area Serian’s Serengeti South benefits from incredibly exclusive sights of this unique period of the migration.
Safari Tents
The 6 spacious safari tents have been designed with the simplicity of a mobile safari but with the added benefit of some luxury trimmings. The tents all have an en-suite bathroom with toilet and bucket shower.
The exclusivity of the area means the wildlife are not used to seeing vehicles and packs of Wild Dogs are not uncommon. Predators of all sorts take full advantage of the calves and the interactions are fascinating but gut wrenching.
The camp is also close to the Seketeti Escarpment, a 3000 foot drop off to Lake Eyasi. All meals are communal and absolutely delicious!
