Description

Sindabezi Island

Private island, Zambezi River

Located on a private island in the middle of the Zambezi Sindabezi provides guests with barefoot luxury within throwing distance of the Zimbabwean river bank. This is a remote and rustic lodge ideal for those seeking simplicity in an exclusive setting.

Sindabezi can only be reached from Tongabezi and is a 2 kilometer boat or canoe trip downriver from Tongabezi.

As with each chalet the main dining area has been raised on stilts with open sides. The decor here is one of old Colonial  antiques with comfortable couches and has a chic but relaxed feeling to it. A fire-pit has been dug into the sand a short distance from the main guest area for pre-dinner drinks and relaxation after dinner.

Chalets

Having been re-built in 2009 the five stunning en-suite chalets have been raised on stilts amongst the forested woods of the island. Sand paths connect the chalets to the main area of the lodge allowing all the structures to blend in with the trees’. Each chalet has an open front to the river with a small deck and chairs.

The en-suite bathroom has an outdoor shower and the canopied sleeping area continues the feeling of being outside and connected to the environment. The twin honeymoon chalets also have claw-footed baths out on the deck and one even has its own section of private beach.

Children of fourteen and over are welcome. Full rates apply when children stay in their own room. Children of all ages welcome if the island is booked privately.
