Solio Game Reserve

Solio Lodge is located in the Solio Game Reserve which lies between Mount Kenya and Aberdare National Parks. This is a privately owned reserve boasting a diverse population of wildlife, including both Black and White Rhino. The reserve has come to be known as one of the most successful private rhino breeding reserves in Kenya. Other species in the reserve include Buffalo, Zebra, Giraffe, Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Plains game such as Eland, Oryx, Impala, Waterbuck, Thompson’s Gazelle and Warthog can be seen.

There is a wide range of activities that can suit everyone’s energy levels. Simply enjoying the incredible views of Mount Kenya is definitely a worthwhile between safari activities. The lodge also offers walking, mountain biking, catch and release fishing, horse riding and a 4×4 safari in the rhino sanctuary.

Accommodation

The lodge has six luxurious rooms, each en-suite has large glass windows to take in the fantastic views of the surrounding landscape, dominated by Mount Kenya. Cottages one through four have a private lounge area with an open fire for some of the cooler evenings, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with double vanity basins, bath and shower

Cottage five and six are family cottages that have a shared living area. The room has a private lounge area with fire, as well as large bathrooms with double vanity basins, bath and shower

Cuisine at Solio is excellent! The chef uses ingredients from their own vegetable gardens adding excellent tastes and flavors. Meals are served in the bush, on the deck overlooking a watering hole, in the main dining room, or private dining in your cottage.

How to Get There

Fly In

Fly in to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport with KLM, Swiss Air, Emirates, Qatar or Lufthansa. On arrival you will be met by your safari representative who will drive you to Wilson Airport.

Here you will board a light aircraft for your 45 minute flight to Nanyuki airstrip. A guide will meet you at the airstrip for the 20 minute drive to the conservancy gate and a further 45 minute game drive to the lodge.
