&Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge
Sossusvlei
Open Year Round
Set in the 530 000 acre NamibRand Private Nature Reserve, &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge exists in one of the most unique areas on earth. Space dominates the environment with vast empty plains, stunted grasses and towering mountains in the distances.
The sand dunes at Sossusvlei are ever changing in color from sunrise to sunset and form part of the largest dune field to be found South of the Sahara. While the scenery may seem desolate and lifeless a remarkable array of creatures have evolved to survive here, including over 100 species of endemic birds.
The main lodge area boasts incredible views from the bar and lounge area and a swimming pool down a set of stairs is quite private. Oryx, Zebra and Springbok can often be sighted from the lodge. One of the main attractions here is star gazing as the location has a near zero light pollution factor. A computer controlled telescope can be used yourself and lectures can be arranged by the resident astrologer.
A spa and gym are also on site. Activities are varied from quad bikes to E-bikes, hiking and game drives in search of desert Elephants and Lions.
Desert Suites & Family Star Dune Suite
Desert Lodge has 10 spacious suites as well as a family suite called the Star Dune Suite, ideal for families of 4 or 5. The suites have a modern design and décor and all have a skylight above the bed for star gazing before sleeping.
There is a comfortable lounge area and a fire in each suite for the cooler months. En-suite bathrooms are paneled by glass and feature an inside and outdoor shower. No baths due to water conservation. All suites have their own private plunge pool.
