Stretch Ferreira Safaris
Mana Pools National Park
Stretch Ferreira Safaris is one of the oldest and most well respected safari operators in Mana Pools National Park. Stretch has over 40 years of experience in Mana Pools and is fondly called “Father Mana” by the local Zimbabwe Parks Board personnel. The personal relationships he has with some of the Elephants ensures you will have the most incredible interactions.
To say that Stretch is an excellent guide is an understatement. He leads most of the activities be they walking safaris, game drives or canoe expeditions and his knowledge of the plants and animals is incredible.
The camp is neither mobile nor permanent as it is dismantled and re-built each year for the safari season in the same location and is open from April/May through to October/November. Paths lead from the guest tents to the main guest area which is a canvas structure that has stunning views over the river. There is a comfortable and informal lounge, bar area and a tea and coffee station. The camp has it’s own system for producing safe drinking water.
The communal dining area stands slightly apart from the lounge with it’s own views over the river. Hippo’s snort in the river while you enjoy your evening meals.
Meru Tents
The camp has just 6 tents for 12 guests making the experience very personal and authentic. The tents can be made up with twin or double beds and all have mosquito nets and bedside tables. The en-suite bathroom is accessed through a flap in the rear of the tent replete with toilet, vanity basins and an outdoor shower.
