Description
The Emakoko
Nairobi National Park
Open all year
Perched on the edge of a gorge on the border of Nairobi National Park is The Emakoko. The lodge is completely owner run and managed and this is reflected in the excellent service and attention to detail. At just a 45 minute drive from either of the airports in Nairobi this is definitely the best choice for the start to your safari in East Africa.
The park is 117 km² in size with the Southern boundary being un-fenced allowing for the natural movement of animals and is a highly underrated park. While it may be strange to have a city skyline while on game drive in a national park the landscape and scenery here is quite beautiful.
If it is your dream to see both White and Black Rhino then it is here that you stand the very best chance of seeing both in their natural environment. After a bumpy descent to the lodge a very pretty bridge leads over to the main reception which is both warm and inviting. The lounge, dining area and deck all have magnificent views out over the park.
Cottage Rooms
The Emakoko has 10 rooms of which 5 are close to the main lodge and 5 that are up a steep cliff face and set above the gorge. While these may not be easy to get to their views more than make up for the effort to get to them. Views over the park are fantastic.
A pair of cottages has adjoining rooms that is ideal as a family unit. There is also now a private house with two double rooms and extra beds can be added.
