Vumbura Plains
North Camp
Vumbura North is an island camp lying in a concession that is owned by five villages of local Botswana people. The partnership ensures the benefits of tourism are shared with rural stakeholders. This luxurious lodge is a mix of water activities and dry land game viewing. This combination of activities delivers a perfect all-round safari experience.
The concession is best known for its diversity in antelope species and especially the rare Sable antelope. The annually flooded grasslands of the Okavango that surround Vumbura North offer good seasonal viewing of Elephant, Giraffe, Buffalo, Kudu, Water and Reed Buck, Tsessebe and Hippo.
Predators include sightings of Wild Dog, resident prides of Lions, leopard, Cheetah and African Wild Cat. Birding is exceptional year round. Morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, birding and fishing on a catch and release basis are available at this lavish lodge.
Hot air balloon safaris are possible and available from 1 April to 7 October 2019. This is a very rare opportunity for an exceptional experience of game viewing and is highly recommended. Scenic helicopter flights can be arranged with pre booking.
Safari Tents
The camp has just eight tents, each rests under thatch on a raised wooden deck and comprises two family units and six twin bedded tents. The camps main area has stunning views over the floodplains that are dotted with Lechwe and Sitatunga. Elephant bulls wade casually through the marshes feeding.
Spa treatments are available in the privacy of your tent and a traditional boma for dinner under the stars provides a remarkable experience into the traditional lives of the Botswana people.
